In the process, the filmmakers have almost destroyed the innocent charm and wacky wit of the TV series. The scene where Spongebob and Patrick get drunk on ice cream is also distasteful.
The rest of the movie, however, contains at least a couple instances of crude humor, scary sequences, and a weird ending where Spongebob uses magic rays to solve the plot problem. Parts of THE SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS MOVIE retain some of the goofy humor and innocence of the TV series. Plankton hires a hitman to make sure they never get there. Spongebob and his loyal friend, the pink starfish named Patrick, must travel to Shell City to retrieve the crown and save Mr. Krabs, steals the crown of King Neptune, selling it to someone in Shell City, and frames Mr. Plankton, a disgruntled, diminutive business rival of Spongebob’s boss, Mr.
Spongebob Squarepants is a hyperactive yellow sponge, living under the sea at Bikini Bottom. THE SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS MOVIE is based on the popular cartoon series on Cable TV’s Nickelodeon channel.
